Bogus Basin: Granite, Gold & Wildflowers

Join Steve Schaps for a geologic field trip to Bogus Basin. Learn about how geology controls the distribution of Gold in the area and see how veins in the granite (pegmatites) can tell you a lot about where the gold is (or isn’t). We will meet at the Hawkins Range Reserve Trailhead 7.6 miles up Bogus Basin Road on July 11 at 9:45am for a 10am departure.  Home between 2-3pm. Sponsored by the Idaho Museum of Mining and Geology, 2455 Old Penitentiary Rd, Boise. Nonmembers of the Museum $20, Members and kids Free.
