Mineral Identification

Coyote Short PG can identify rocks, minerals and Native American artifacts.  Bring in your specimens and she will help you identify them!  Coyote Short is a Professional Geologist, licensed in Idaho.  Her fields of work include geology, archaeology, and chemistry, in which she strives to maintain continuity between ancient and modern knowledge, believing that the two can meld to provide complete understanding.

Plan to stay and browse our extraordinary Gift Shop with prices starting at 50 cents. We have books, rocks, minerals, rock picks, gold pans, jewelry and items for children, and more.

Masks are required.

Museum members and all children are free, non-members $5.

CANCELLED: Celebrate Idaho Geology and Earth Science Week

Due to low registration this event has been cancelled.

Dig into Geology! You’ll find activities for all ages and treasures for the kiddos. Hunt for gems, explore Idaho rocks and minerals, create your own earthquake and MORE!

We have planned this event carefully, so that during this COVID surge, we can all stay safe. We are scheduling 25 people per hour between 1:00 pm & 4:00pm and requiring everyone 3 and older to wear a mask that covers the nose and mouth. The museum door will be open. Come join us for a good time!

Our gift shop will be open, so plan to come in and explore our affordable and amazing collections!
