SUMMARY:Lecture: Willow Creek Jasper Mine and other Geologic Field Trips
DESCRIPTION:This 2:30pm presentation a repeat of the 1pm lecture and is designed for folks who enjoy rocks\, minerals\, fossils and petrified wood. Steve Schaps and mine owner\, Larry Ridley\, will begin with a discussion of the Willow Creek Jasper mine in Eagle. The Idaho Museum of Mining and Geology (IMMG) is planning field trips to the Willow Creek Jasper mine all summer\, beginning in May. \nSteve and Barb Beatty will talk about the Shoofly Oolites\, the Bruneau Fossil Reef and the Bruneau Woodpile—all outstanding field trips offered by the IMMG in fall and winter. Lots of photos! \nThe presentation is free for IMMG Members and children\, $5 Non-members of IMMG. All Museum events offer free admission to members\, and we have events scheduled almost every weekend through October. DESCRIPTION:Join Steven Sawyer for a popular field trip to the Shoofly Oolites\, one of the largest outcrops of Oolites in North America—located 70 miles from Boise near Grand View. We will meet near the McDonald’s\, 6574 S Federal Way (Albertsons Shopping Center) near the intersection of I-84 and Hwy 21 at 10 am. Home early afternoon.
