DESCRIPTION:This geologic field trip will be to the famous “Bruneau Woodpile” and is centered on collecting petrified wood and other fossils without any digging. We’ll be carpooling from the Albertsons Parking Lot (near McDonalds but not at McDonalds) at 6574 S Federal Way and Hwy 21 so meet at 9:45 AM. We will spend ~2 hours exploring a new area and picking up petrified wood\, having lunch and then return to One-Stop and finally to the meetup location by 3-4 PM. DESCRIPTION:Let’s Dig into Geodes and see what’s inside! \nJoin us at the Idaho Museum of Mining and Geology (IMMG)\, next to the Old Pen\, for a fun time geode-cracking\, an easy 40-minute geology-hike on the nearby hillside and a Museum Visitation. Geode-cracking takes place from 10am-1pm outside under shade canopies on the grass of the historic Women’s Ward. DESCRIPTION:Join Dr. Craig White\, BSU Emeritus Professor\, as he leads a Driving Tour of Western Snake River Plain Volcanoes. Meet at 8:45 am near the southeast corner of the Albertsons supermarket parking lot at the corner of Vista Ave and Overland Rd. We’ll plan on departing at 9:00 am. DESCRIPTION:Join us at the Idaho Museum of Mining and Geology (IMMG) for gold panning from noon-3pm. Activities provided by the Nampa American Association of Gold Prospectors. In addition\, there will be stations set up by Society for Mining\, Metallurgy & Exploration\, Perpetua\, and Women in Mining.
