SUMMARY:Table Rock Signs
DESCRIPTION:Join us for a free reception to celebrate completion of the updated Table Rock signs. The four signs summarizing the geologic history of the Boise Valley were installed by the Idaho Museum of Mining and Geology (IMMG) 30 years ago. The newly updated signs were placed a couple of weeks ago partway up Table Rock on the Ridge to Rivers trail. \nWe will have exact replicas of the four signs on display at the Museum. \nMuseum Board President Steve Cox will give a brief overview of the signs and where they are located on the Table Rock trail. The presentation will take less than 40 minutes but will be important to recognizing a significant event in the Museum’s history. Even if you can’t hike to the signs\, you can see what they look like at the Museum. \nPlease let us know if you will join us. \nhttps://www.eventbrite.com/e/table-rock-signs-tickets-1992023455780?aff=oddtdtcreator \nContact operations@idahomuseum.org with questions.

SUMMARY:Western Snake River Plain: LECTURE
DESCRIPTION:This lecture\, presented by Dr. Terry S Maley\, covers the origin and evolution of the Snake River Plain with emphasis on tectonic and volcanic events. The Snake River Plain has long been recognized as an enigmatic feature with global geologic significance. It is also noted as one of the most important volcanic provinces on Earth. Recent research shows the Snake River Plain was at least partly if not entirely caused by the Yellowstone hotspot. 1pm at Idaho Museum of Mining and Geology\, 2455 Old Penitentiary Rd. Boise\, Idaho 83712. General admission $5\, Museum members free.
