SUMMARY:Geology Hike to Eagle Rock
DESCRIPTION:Eliza Schulz will meet hikers at 7:45am within steps of the IMMG in the Old Pen dirt parking lot near the Ridge to Rivers trail sign. She will lead you up the hillside at a relaxed pace. At various points she will talk about the features of the hillside\, the type of rocks\, how the hills were formed\, what produced the Treasure Valley below and more. \nThe geo-hike is appropriate for children and adults who can walk/hike for up to 2 hours. Because of summer heat\, the hike will end by 10:00am. \nPlease wear comfortable walking shoes\, wear a sun hat\, bring your own water and dress for the weather. SUMMARY:Driving Tour of Western Snake River Plain Volcanoes
DESCRIPTION:Join Dr. Craig White\, BSU Emeritus Professor\, as he leads a Driving Tour of Western Snake River Plain Volcanoes. Meet at 8:45 am near the southeast corner of the Albertsons supermarket parking lot at the corner of Vista Ave and Overland Rd. We’ll plan on departing at 9:00 am. This tour will take you to Initial Point for an overview of the Western Plain\, then down to Swan Falls Dam to look at the Sinker Butte volcano\, then\, if time permits\, out to Celebration Park where we’ll talk about the Guffey Butte volcano and see the boulder deposits left by the Bonneville Flood. \nNonmembers of the Museum $20 plus Eventbrite fee\, IMMG members and children free.
