Lecture: How the Yellowstone Hotspot dominated Northwest Geology for 56 million years

September 5, 2021 @ 1:00 pm - 2:00 pm

This presentation is back by popular demand. Awareness of the Yellowstone Hotspot begins with the first evidence of the Yellowstone mantle plume some 56 million years ago when it was offshore western North America and created the huge oceanic plateau called Siletzia. We will follow the hotspot track through time and explain how it may have caused such diverse and widespread volcanic and tectonic events that dominated the geology of the Northwest for million of years.

Pre-registration required and available here: Yellowstone Hotspot Registration
