This lecture commemorates the 150th anniversary of the 1872 Mining Law. Please read the information on the links for more detail.
The 2-hour presentation will take place on-site at the Idaho Museum of Mining and Geology, 2455 Old Penitentiary Road in Boise. It will begin with a brief history of prospecting and the mining law with emphasis on how the law was applied by prospectors in the field. Geologic evidence at early prospecting sites reveals how well the prospectors and miners understood the local geology. The lecture will be recorded for those who wish to view from their home.
