IMMG Volunteer Opportunities

Depending on your time and interests you can support the museum mission in one of three volunteer categories.

Visitor Services

Visitor Services volunteers staff the museum during regular business hours. Duties include greeting visitors, handling gift shop sales, and helping during special events. A typical commitment is one or two 2 1/2 hour shifts each month. All training is provided and no special knowledge is required – just a love of rocks!

Teaching & Events Team

Teaching & Events Team volunteers participate as leads or assistants in educational programs and events such as Youth Learning Tours, Geo-Workshops, and the Rock Party. No special experience or training is required to be an assistant for our great educational activities.

Support Team

Support Team volunteers are those with particular skills who help out on special projects or for special needs, such as:

  • Repairs
  • Transportation for young or physically-challenged volunteers
  • Woodworking
  • Painting
  • Writing articles
  • Etc.

Volunteers will receive orientation and training, and will receive special benefits in appreciation of their service. Please contact us if you are interested in joining our volunteer program.

Volunteers make it happen!
